Position: Project Management Coordinator


The Atlantic Region Aboriginal Lands Association (ARALA) is a non-political organization and operates as a technical land management advisory board which aims to provide; technical land management, professional development and training to support land managers in the Atlantic region.


ARALA was established in March of 2000 and has since been incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Act in August of 2019.


We are First Nations controlled, community-based, and membership-driven. Our purpose is to raise the professional standards of First Nations land management professionals; develop and maintain communications among First Nations land managers; encourage membership in ARALA; and promote and encourage the successful work of First Nations land managers.


As a growing organization, we need to fill the Administrative Assistant positions at our office located on the Elsipogtog First Nation.


Key duties

  • Coordinate face-to-face or virtual conferences, AGMs, training sessions, webinars, engagements, and meetings
  • Assist the Executive Director in the management of various projects and initiatives
  • Assist in the development of proposals, budgets, and reports
  • Assist in the development of training materials and communications, including the ARALA website and social media presence, for members and other stakeholders
  • Assist in preparation and delivery of presentations and attend ARALA Board meetings as required
  • Initiate contacts with First Nations to determine the status of their activities and advise on additional required services that should be made available through ARALA
  • Assist in the review and development of ARALA policies, procedures, strategic planning, and reviews
  • Work collaboratively with government, institutions, organizations, and agencies
  • Promote the role of the ARALA, other Regional Lands Associations (RLA) throughout Canada, and the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA)
  • Encourage, support and market the Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP), and ongoing professional development for First Nation Lands Managers in the Atlantic region
  • Assist the Executive Director to develop and manage the annual workplan and budget, including the preparation and securing of contracts for better pricing and delivery
